Fenerbahce vs Liverpool 3-2: Champions League results and standings
Liverpool led twice and lost in Istanbul, Como put nine past Lens and Valverde saved Real Madrid. Every result from Wednesday and where the table stands.

Liverpool’s perfect start in the Champions League is over. Fenerbahce came from behind twice to win 3-2 at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium in Istanbul on Wednesday night, 4 November, with Vedat Muriqi heading the winner with about ten minutes left.
It was the most searched match in Pakistan overnight, with “Fenerbahce vs Liverpool standings” near the top of Google Trends, because it came on a night that shook up the table.
How Liverpool lost in Istanbul
Teenager Trey Nyoni gave Liverpool the lead on 25 minutes with a low volley that took a deflection, his first senior goal for the club. Four minutes later Mason Greenwood levelled with a free kick that clipped the wall.
Substitute Alexander Isak restored the lead on 69 minutes, heading in Cody Gakpo’s cross. It lasted four minutes. Archie Brown tapped in at the far post from an N’Golo Kante cross, and Muriqi won it from a long throw that Brown headed back across goal.
Both Fenerbahce goals after the break came from balls into the box that Liverpool failed to clear. For Andoni Iraola’s side, it ends a run of three straight wins in the competition.

The big talking points
- Como 9-1 Lens: the Italian side equalled the biggest win in the competition’s history, with Anastasios Douvikas scoring a hat-trick and six goals coming after half-time.
- Valverde saves Real Madrid: AEK led twice. Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe pulled Real level each time, and Federico Valverde won it in stoppage time with a thunderous strike to keep Real’s record perfect.
- Haaland again: City were pegged back twice by Leipzig before Erling Haaland finished at the far post on 78 minutes.
- Napoli in trouble: Porto scored three times after the break to win 4-1, leaving Napoli near the bottom.
Champions League standings after Wednesday
- Real Madrid: 2nd, 12 points from four games, level with leaders PSG and behind only on goal difference.
- Arsenal: 3rd, 10 points.
- Como: 4th, 9 points.
- Manchester City: 7th, 9 points.
- Liverpool: 8th, 9 points, still inside the top eight that skip the play-off round, but only just.
- Fenerbahce: up to 19th with 5 points.
- Napoli (27th) and Porto (26th) both have three points.
The top eight go straight to the last 16, and teams from 9th to 24th go into a play-off. Liverpool’s next league-phase game decides whether they stay on the right side of that line.
