Dar-e-Nijaat has a second song, and it is already everywhere. “Mujhse Kyun Bair Kiya”, released as an official video by ARY Digital on Saturday, 31 October, passed 1.2 million YouTube views by Sunday morning, less than a day after it went up.

Who made Mujhse Kyun Bair Kiya?

According to ARY Digital’s credits:

  • Singers: Naveed Nashad and Sehar Gull Khan
  • Lyrics: Qamar Nashad
  • Music and composition: Naveed Nashad
  • Arrangement, mixing and mastering: Salman Naseer

It is a duet, which suits the drama’s mood right now. The video, a little over four minutes long, is cut from the scenes of Abu Bakar (Sheheryar Munawar) and Zaryab (Dur-e-Fishan Saleem), whose slow-burn marriage has become the main reason people watch. ARY’s own description calls it a song “bringing to life the mesmerizing chemistry” of the pair.

What does the title mean?

“Mujhse kyun bair kiya” roughly means “why did you hold a grudge against me” or “why did you turn against me”. “Bair” is an old word for enmity or bitterness, the kind of word you hear in folk songs and qawwali more than in everyday speech.

That fits the couple’s story. Zaryab came into the marriage cold and suspicious, and much of the drama has been Abu Bakar’s patience slowly wearing that down. The song asks the question both of them could ask the other.

Why it caught on

Timing is most of it. Dar-e-Nijaat, written by Umera Ahmed and directed by Saqib Khan, is ARY’s biggest drama this season, and Abu Bakar and Zaryab’s scenes are clipped and shared every Friday and Saturday night. A song made purely of those moments gives fans a ready-made edit. The video went up on the morning of a new episode night, and Episode 27 aired the same evening.

The drama already has a well-loved title song, “Hijr-e-Muhabbat”. Fan reaction to the new one, as reported by entertainment site Reviewit, is warm: viewers praised the melody, the lyrics and the leads’ chemistry, and admired how the scenes were shot. Some said it doesn’t match “Hijr-e-Muhabbat”, which is the usual fate of a second OST.

Our view

Naveed Nashad’s composition leans on a classic, slightly old-fashioned melody rather than chasing a TikTok hook, and that is a smart choice for a drama with a spiritual streak. Sehar Gull Khan’s voice gives the duet its softness. Whether it overtakes the title song will depend on the next few episodes; songs from dramas rise and fall with the story.

Dar-e-Nijaat airs every Friday and Saturday at 8 PM on ARY Digital, and Episode 28 is due on Friday, 6 November.
