What kind of jobs are these?

Grades 1 to 16 cover the bulk of railway work: from track maintenance staff and helpers in the lower grades to clerical, technical and station posts higher up. The exact list of posts, qualifications and age limits is in the official adverts on the National Jobs Portal, so read the advert for the specific post before applying. Media reports say a large share of the Quetta Division posts are track (gangman) jobs, but check the portal for the confirmed numbers.

The minister has told officials to make sure hiring is on merit and transparent.

How to apply, step by step

  1. Go to the National Jobs Portal (njp.gov.pk) and create an account with your CNIC and mobile number.
  2. Fill in your profile: education, experience and domicile.
  3. Search for the Pakistan Railways adverts for the Balochistan quota and open the post you qualify for.
  4. Upload scans of the documents below and submit before 11 November.
  5. Keep a screenshot or PDF of your submitted application.

Documents you will need

  • Educational certificates and degrees
  • CNIC
  • Balochistan domicile certificate
  • Character certificate
  • Recent passport-size photographs

Keep the originals ready; they are usually checked at the interview or joining stage.

Why this matters

Posts on provincial quotas in federal departments often sit empty for years. For young people in Quetta and across Balochistan, 829 government jobs with no written test is one of the larger openings this year.

Beware of fake adverts

Pakistan Railways and the National Jobs Portal will not ask you to pay an agent or send money on WhatsApp to “confirm” a seat. Apply only through the official portal, and report anyone offering a job for cash. Our Govt Jobs page lists this and other open government adverts with their last dates.
