India Under-19 opened their U19 Asia Cup 2026 campaign with a 10-wicket win over Nepal on Friday, 6 November, and the name everyone searched afterwards was Aaryavir Sehwag. The son of former India opener Virender Sehwag hit 70 not out off 52 balls as India chased 129 in just 19.1 overs at Al Amerat in Oman.

Nepal U19 vs India U19: the scorecard in short

  • Nepal U19: 128 all out
  • India U19: 129 for 0 in 19.1 overs
  • Result: India won by 10 wickets
  • Best bowling: Arjun Rajput 3 for 8, Ishan Sood 3 for 18
  • Top scorers: Aaryavir Sehwag 70* (52 balls, 7 fours, 4 sixes), Lakshya Raichandani 53* (63 balls, 7 fours)

How the match went

Nepal never got going and were bowled out for 128. Arjun Rajput’s figures of 3 for 8 were the standout: three wickets for almost nothing, with Ishan Sood adding three more.

The chase was a stroll. Captain Lakshya Raichandani played the anchor, rotating the strike, while Sehwag took on the bowling at the other end. He reached his maiden Youth ODI fifty in 34 balls, bringing it up with a six straight down the ground, in only his fourth match at this level.

The surname does a lot of the work. Fans who grew up watching Virender Sehwag smash the new ball saw the same attacking intent from his son, and clips of his sixes spread quickly on X and Instagram after the match. One fifty does not make a career, and Aaryavir is still a teenager learning the game, but it is the kind of start that keeps a name in the selectors’ notes.

Why it matters for Pakistan fans

Pakistan are in the same tournament, and an India vs Pakistan Under-19 match is on the schedule. We listed Pakistan’s squad and fixtures here. A comfortable opening win gives India a strong net run rate early in the group, which can matter if teams finish level on points.

India’s next group match is the one to watch for whether Sehwag can back up this innings against a stronger attack.
