Acclaimed British actors David Tennant and Danny Dyer, stars of the hit Disney+ television drama Rivals, have joined forces to record a special audiobook edition of Dame Jilly Cooper’s classic novel for blind and partially sighted readers.

According to reports published by the Bournemouth Echo and East Renfrewshire News, the pair contributed recording sessions in collaboration with the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) and audio publishers to ensure accessibility for readers across the UK.

Bringing classic characters to audio life

The hit television adaptation has reignited enormous interest in Cooper’s classic chronicle of British countryside rivalries and glamorous broadcast television executives:

  • Full-cast narration: Tennant and Dyer perform their television characters’ perspectives alongside a full ensemble cast of voice talents.
  • Charitable partnership: The project ensures the audiobook is provided free or heavily subsidised to blind and print-disabled library members across Britain.
  • Celebration of British storytelling: The initiative highlights the vital importance of accessible audio literature alongside mainstream screen releases.

Critical praise for the collaboration

Charity directors praised the actors for dedicating their time in the studio, noting that high-profile talent brings tremendous visibility to accessible format publishing. The complete unabridged audiobook is scheduled for release through RNIB Talking Books and commercial audiobook services.
