Iftikhar Ahmed 'I am fine' meme: the 'who are you?' clip explained
An American creator asked Iftikhar Ahmed "who are you?" and he answered "I am fine". Where the clip came from, why it took off and how fans reacted.

“I am the American Cricket Girl, and who are you?” “I am fine.” That eight-second exchange between a US cricket content creator and Pakistan all-rounder Iftikhar Ahmed has been the cricket meme of the week, and “Iftikhar Ahmed I am fine” is now how people across Pakistan and India are searching for it.
Where the ‘I am fine’ clip came from
The video was posted on Instagram by the creator who calls herself American Cricket Girl. She travels to cricket leagues around the world and films quick chats with players, usually starting with the same line: she introduces herself and asks the player to say who they are.
When she tried it with Iftikhar at a T20 league ground, he heard the question as the usual “how are you?” and answered, with a polite smile, “I am fine.” Her surprised, amused reaction did the rest. Reports differ on which league it was: most coverage says a domestic T20 event, while one report says she was following leagues in Nepal at the time. By Friday, 30 October, cricket pages in both countries were reposting it.
Why it took off
Part of it is Iftikhar himself. He has been a meme favourite for years, from the “Chacha” nickname fans gave him to his big-hitting cameos for Pakistan and in the PSL, where Peshawar Zalmi signed him this year. People already like him, so the joke landed as affectionate rather than nasty.
The other part is that it is the most relatable mistake in the world. Anyone who has been asked a question in a noisy place, in a second language, by a stranger with a camera, has answered the wrong question at least once.
How people reacted
On X, cricket accounts reposted the clip with laughing emojis. Some called it the “Meme of the Week”, others a “savage reply”, as if he had meant it as a comeback. Many of the jokes were about the creator’s reaction: she looks surprised and then starts laughing.
The clip also reached Indian fan pages and sports sites, where it was shared as much as in Pakistan.
Has Iftikhar responded?
Not publicly, as of Monday morning. He has not posted about the clip on his own accounts, and the American Cricket Girl’s video is still up. If he does reply, his fans are hoping it is with two words: “I am fine.”
