SSC CGL answer key 2026 tier 1 out: objections till 7 November, Rs 50 fee
SSC has put up the CGL 2026 Tier 1 provisional answer key and response sheets. How to download it, how to challenge an answer and when results are due.

India’s Staff Selection Commission has released the provisional answer key for the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) 2026 Tier 1 exam, along with each candidate’s response sheet, on its website ssc.gov.in on Wednesday, 4 November. Candidates can check their answers and challenge any they think are wrong until 9pm on Saturday, 7 November.
It was the most searched term in India on Wednesday, with more than 5,000 searches on Google in a few hours, which is no surprise: CGL is one of the country’s biggest recruitment exams, this year for 10,731 Group B and Group C posts in central ministries and departments.
How to download the SSC CGL Tier 1 answer key
- Go to ssc.gov.in and log in with your registration number and password.
- Open the answer key section and choose “CGL 2026 Tier 1”.
- Your response sheet opens with the answer you marked and the commission’s provisional answer for each question.
- Save or print it; the link is only open while the objection window lasts.
How to challenge an answer
Objections are filed online through the same candidate login. Pick the question, give your reason, and pay Rs 50 per question (Indian rupees). Exam-preparation sites report that supporting material can be uploaded with the challenge. Nothing is accepted after 9pm on 7 November.
Work out your score
Tier 1 gives 2 marks for each correct answer and takes away 0.5 marks for each wrong one; unanswered questions score zero. Candidates can use the response sheet to estimate their marks before the result, though the final key, published after the challenges are reviewed, can change a few answers.
What happens next
The Tier 1 exam was held in several shifts through October. After the objection window closes, the commission will review the challenges, publish a final key and then the Tier 1 result, which coaching sites expect in early December. Those who qualify move on to Tier 2.
